When to go and getting around

October to April is the most comfortable period, especially for Aswan and Cairo; summer is very hot in Upper Egypt. Sharm El Sheikh is warm all year and busiest in school holidays. Ramadan changes restaurant hours in cities.

Main airports are Cairo (CAI), Sharm El Sheikh (SSH) and Aswan (ASW). Domestic flights save long drives between regions. Prices are in Egyptian pounds (EGP), although many resorts quote in US dollars or euros.

How to compare Egypt hotel deals

Compare identical dates, room views and meal plans. In Cairo, confirm whether the room actually faces the Nile or the pyramids; in Sharm, check what the all-inclusive package covers, including specialty restaurants and drinks. Add transfers or domestic flights when comparing destinations.
