Plan your Luxor staycation

A staycation in Luxor can be a relaxed Nile-side hotel break with a pool afternoon, dinner and one carefully chosen outing. Start by choosing the riverbank that suits your plans, then compare the actual room, facilities and total price. This collection includes 20 Luxor hotels, from larger riverside properties to smaller West Bank stays. Guest scores help narrow the choice; they do not replace checking current room availability or the facilities you want to use.

Where to stay in Luxor

East Bank: riverside hotels and city access

The East Bank is a practical starting point if your weekend includes Luxor Temple, Karnak or time in central Luxor. Egypt’s tourism authority places both temple complexes on this side of the Nile. You can plan one outing and keep the rest of the day for the hotel. Compare Sonesta St George Hotel Luxor, Steigenberger Nile Palace and Steigenberger Resort Achti along the riverside hotel area. Their different room categories and locations make the final room selection important.

Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa has a New Karnak address, so compare its position with your intended activities rather than assuming every East Bank hotel is in the same central neighbourhood. Also consider Iberotel Luxor by JAZ, Lotus Luxor Hotel and Temple Hotel by Voyage Luxor. A riverside location does not mean the lowest-priced room includes a direct Nile view; confirm the booked category.

West Bank: smaller stays and a different setting

The West Bank suits a break built around a smaller hotel, a quieter schedule or visits to the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and Medinet Habu. Those sites are on the west side, but the area is spread out: check each hotel’s precise location and transport arrangements. Al Moudira Hotel lists a Luxor West Bank address, while New Memnon Hotel is on Memnon Street. Djorff Palace and Jewel Howard Carter Hotel offer other West Bank locations to compare.

For a broader shortlist, look at Cleopatra Hotel Luxor, Alhambra Hotel and Embrace Hotel. Nile Compound Hotel, Nile Panorama Hotel & Restaurant, Royal Mountain Hotel and Spring Hotel Luxor complete the smaller-property choices in this collection. Compare access and the room itself before deciding that one bank is automatically better value.

Kings Island: make the property the main event

Jolie Ville Hotel & Spa Kings Island Luxor lists Kings Island on Aswan Road. Its island setting is a separate choice from a central hotel. It is worth comparing when the main aim is time on the property. Check which facilities and dining options are operating during your dates, and allow for journeys if you also want to explore the city.

Choose the stay around your weekend

For couples: decide whether a Nile-facing room, a distinctive building or a slower West Bank setting matters most. Confirm room orientation, balcony access where offered, dinner arrangements and any spa appointment separately. An attractive hotel photograph may show a shared terrace or a higher room category.

For families: compare the room’s maximum occupancy and the children’s ages permitted in that category. Ask about extra beds, meal charges, pool access and supervision rules. A hotel having a pool does not establish that every pool is suitable for children or that every activity is included.

For a shorter, simpler break: a convenient address can matter more than a long facilities list. Nefertiti has an El Sahabi Street address via Karnak Temple Street; compare it with the specific places you intend to visit. For one night, avoid filling the schedule with crossings and transfers that leave little time to enjoy the room.

A relaxed one-night Luxor plan

On the first day, arrive for the hotel’s confirmed check-in time, settle in and leave an unhurried afternoon for the facilities you booked. Choose dinner on site or a nearby restaurant, then keep the evening flexible. On the second morning, have breakfast and choose one outing on the same riverbank before returning for your agreed checkout. If the main purpose is the hotel, skipping sightseeing is a reasonable choice too.

If you want both East Bank temples and West Bank tombs, consider a second night. Check transport and attraction arrangements for your dates. Avoid assuming that a hotel shuttle, boat crossing, excursion or late checkout comes with the room unless your booking states that it does.

When to book and what to compare

Luxor’s winter weather is generally more comfortable for outdoor visits, while southern Egypt’s summer heat makes shade and indoor breaks more important. For a hotel-focused stay in warmer weather, confirm air conditioning, the pool’s opening arrangements and shaded areas. Check the forecast close to arrival rather than choosing from a seasonal average alone.

Compare the same dates, guest count, room category and meal plan on Expedia or Hotels.com. Look at the final total, taxes, breakfast, cancellation terms and extra-person charges. Check whether a spa treatment, airport transfer or late checkout costs extra. This page does not promise fixed nightly prices. A cheaper room with a different cancellation policy or view is not a like-for-like saving.

Luxor staycation FAQ

Is Luxor good for a staycation?

Yes, if you want a hotel break with Nile scenery and optional cultural outings. Choose a hotel that meets your main aim, then leave enough time to use the room and facilities.

Is the East Bank or West Bank better?

The East Bank suits city access and the Luxor and Karnak temple area. The West Bank suits visits to the royal tombs and comparing smaller stays. The better choice depends on your hotel and intended outings.

How do I choose a Luxor hotel with a pool?

Check the exact property and current pool arrangements, including opening hours, heating where relevant and children’s rules. Pool photographs alone do not establish year-round access or what your rate includes.

Is one night enough?

One night can work for a pool afternoon, dinner and a slow morning. Two nights give more room for hotel time and visits on both riverbanks without rushing.

When is the best time for a Luxor hotel break?

Winter is generally more comfortable for sightseeing. In hotter months, plan a hotel-focused break around shade and air-conditioned spaces, and check the current forecast.

What do Top Rated and Deals & offers mean?

Top Rated requires an Expedia guest score of at least 9.0/10 from at least 10 reviews. Deals & offers contains only offers with current supporting evidence. A high guest score does not guarantee a discount, and a full collection does not mean every hotel qualifies for either filter.
